What We Do

Workshops & Classes - COYOTE COEXISTENCE

Your community is experiencing an increase in coyote activity and you don’t know what to do. We can help!

Roots of Connection facilitates single workshops and presentations AND we work with entire communities to modify and monitor changes in coyote and human behaviors over a period of time. This results in the implementation of a Coexistence Plan and an empowered community that then serves as a model for other communities experiencing similar challenges. Our next presentation is September 24th at the Shepard Garden and Arts Center in McKinley Park in Sacramento CA at 7 pm.
Environmental and human factors have resulted in more coyote sightings in our regions urban and suburban neighborhoods. This has created both fear and excitement among residents. One of the biggest consequences of this is the loss of neighborhood pets, particularly outdoor cats. Roots of Connection has assumed a voluntary role with Project Coyote to provide educational materials and trainings to help residents humanely coexist with urban wildlife. The project is designed to ensure human and pet safety, minimize conflicts, and promote coexistence through mutual respect, fairness, and empathy.
We provide basic ecological and biological coyote information, discussion on why coyotes are around you, simplified explanations of local and state regulations, pet and child safety tips, methods for deterring coyotes, appropriate responses when encountering coyotes, and proper hazing techniques. Print materials and links to additional resources help provide consistent messaging and a shared language to similarly address coyote issues in our communities.
